ped.UCiT study facility
The study facility belonging to ped.UCiT@Kinder-UKE is a fully equipped S1 laboratory where rapid and standardized processing, interim storage, and dispatch preparation of patient samples collected in clinical trials takes place. The study facility is located directly within the University Children's Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf building ensuring quick processing of patient samples.
ped.UCiT biobank
An important component of the ped.UCiT study facility is a modern biobank in which a wide variety of human biosamples such as serum, plasma, liquor (CSF), and urine can be stored. The ped.UCiT biobank is currently equipped with 4 ultra-low freezers (-80°C) as well as -20°C freezers and a 4°C fridge, a liquid nitrogen storage tank and a dry ice maker. Using IT-based sample registration and central temperature monitoring, the aforementioned appliances are guaranteed to provide cryostorage according to standards applicable to the storage of study-specific patient samples. Since the biobank is located on the grounds of the University Children's Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf and in the immediate vicinity of the study facility, patient samples are cryopreserved as quickly as possible.
