Dear visitors of the ped.UCiT webpage,

clinical studies are the basis for further development of therapeutic as well as diagnostic options for many clinical indications (diseases). The main goals of clinical trials are:

• to evaluate or optimize new forms of treatment (e.g. medication, diet, medical devices) and ascertain their safety and effectiveness
• to evaluate whether a new treatment is more effective and/or has less side effects than the standard treatment
• to test ways allowing for making the diagnose early, sometimes even before specific symptoms develop generating means for early diagnosis, preferably prior to symptom onset
• to test ways allowing for prevention of a health problem from occurring generating preventive measures for avoiding health issue occurrences.
• to test ways allowing for a better life quality for people living with a life-threatening disease or chronic health issue generating maintenance routines for improving general life quality for individuals with life-threatening or chronic diseases
• to gather long-term information on disease progression
• to gather long-term information on introduced treatment over time

Our University Children's Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf takes part in numerous clinical studies that are performed in compliance with valid ICH-GCP guidelines and pharmaceutical laws (see table below) ensuring best possible data security.
